In terms of out and out heroes, blokes who I look up to and worship in a strictly non gayer way, and not just who I think is good, it'd be Ali and Duran.
Hoss wise the mighty Dancing Brave.
Honourable mention to Mike Teague, which I realise is a bit obscure, but I fucking loved watching that bloke play rugby.

Graham Gooch - A total Essex legend and played some great innings for England.
Jimmy White: The great entertainer in snooker before Ronnie. Tradgedy he never won the worlds, I was gutted for him both times when he should have won it. The 18-17 defeat to Hendry and also being 14-8 up once and still losing.
Steve Cram: Used to love watching his record breaking efforts in the dream mile etc around 1985/86.
They are my top 3 but also enjoyed the passion of Ivanesevic winning Wimbledon, the grace and skill of Federer. Micheal johnson in Atlanta 1996 will never be forgotten.

I always liked Graham THORPE, thought he was a superb batsman for England. Just a shame he played for Surrey.

All my formative cricket years I tried to bat like Atherton. Jeez, Gower or even Hick what have been a bit sexy. But no, Athers.
